In & Around Wrightsville Beach
Exploring the Local Area
Wrightsville Beach is one of North Carolina’s hidden gems, known for its beautiful blue water and immaculately clean beaches.
On the other side of the island you will find the
Intracoastal Waterway, where you’ll see the most breathtaking sunsets! There are dozens of outdoor activities to try here such as: surfing, wakeboarding, kiteboarding, paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, boat tours and cruises, fishing off of
Johnny Mercer’s Pier
or on charters, and of course laying out on the soft white sand and soaking up the sun!
The island is also home to “The Loop” which is a 2.7 mile trail that loops around the island and connects you to the
Wrightsville Beach Park. At the park you will find tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, children’s playgrounds, and an outdoor workout facility.
Restaurants, beach boutiques, and surf shops are all within a short walking distance as well. About 10 miles away from the island you’ll find historic
Downtown Wilmington on the Cape Fear River.
Downtown is home to numerous local restaurants and shops, and while you’re down there take a carriage ride or visit the USS North Carolina Battleship from WWII.
